SOCS (Save Our Critters Society) is a volunteer non-profit (501c3) animal rescue group formed in 1993.  Based on the belief that an individual person can better one animal's life, SOCS is dedicated to helping abused, abandoned, and injured cats find loving homes, one at a time.  That same belief also recognizes that the best decisions are not always easy, but it often takes courage to make a difference.

SOCS is funded by public donations, memberships in our Society, and various fund raisers.  No financial support is received from government agencies.  Our existence depends solely on the generosity of animal lovers who support our beliefs.

SOCS is not a shelter.  All the cats and kittens we take in are kept in our foster homes.  The number of cats we can help is directly related to the number of people who are willing to open their hearts and homes to the cats and kittens who need a place to live until they are adopted by a loving family.
Donations

Donations received go toward animal care supplies, veterinary services, and assistance for low-income senior citizens.  A portion is also used to defray administrative costs.

SOCS has no paid employees.  Our volunteers provide foster care, bookkeeping and legal assistance, and staffing for our "Adopt-A-Days" events.

Goals

~Facilitate the rescue and adoption of unwanted and homeless animals.

~Educate the public on animal care and welfare, including the spaying or neutering of animals to control pet populations.

~Provide temporary foster homes and veterinary care for homeless cats.

~Assist senior citizens on fixed incomes with necessary expenses, thereby enabling them to continue to properly care for their animal companions.

SOCS hopes to accomplish these goals by networking with all reliable resources, being actively involved in public animal welfare campaigns, and increasing our Foster Home system.
